Details of 14-day UK quarantine regime announced
May 22, 2020
Home secretary Priti Patel has confirmed the UK government will introduce a new 14-day quarantine on arrival requirement from 8th June.
The measures, widely anticipated after first being announced by prime minister Boris Johnson on 10 May, will take effect on 8 June.
Patel confirmed the full details of the UK’s quarantine regime at the government’s daily coronavirus briefing on Friday (22 May).
Arrivals by air, sea or rail will be asked to fill in a form with their contact details, and indicate where they intend to serve their 14-day self-isolation requirement.
The measures will be enforced via spot checks; anyone flouting the rules could face fines of up to £1,000 if they do not comply.
