Emirates Launces Free Covid Medical Cover
July 24, 2020
Emirates has launched free medical and quarantine cover for passengers in the event they are diagnosed with Covid-19 during their travels.
The cover is free to passengers in all classes, flying to any destination across the Emirates network – and is immediately available on any flights departing up to 31 October.
Emirates will cover medical expenses of up to €150,000, and quarantine costs of €100 per day for 14 days.
Its cover is valid for 31 days from the moment passengers fly the first leg of their journey, meaning passengers can continue to benefit from the cover during any onward travel plans.
Emirates said the cover constituted an "industry-leading initiative to boost travel confidence".
"Emirates is proud to lead the way in boosting confidence for international travel," said Emirates Group chair and chief executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
"We know people are yearning to fly as borders around the world gradually reopen, but they are seeking flexibility and assurances should something unforeseen happen during their travel.
"Emirates has worked hard to put in place measures at every step of the customer journey to mitigate risk of infection, and we have also revamped our booking policies to offer flexibility.
"It is an investment on our part, but we are putting our customers first, and we believe they will welcome this initiative."
Passengers do not need to register or fill in any forms before they travel to be eligible, and are not obligated to utilise the cover provided by Emirates.
Any passenger diagnosed with Covid-19 during their travel can contact a dedicated hotline for assistance and to make use of the cover.
