Lufthansa Group airlines to expand reopening
June 05, 2020
After many weeks at home we are all longing for a break from everyday life. The desire to rediscover Europe and the world is growing once again. With travel restrictions lifting and the resulting increase in demand, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group will significantly expand their flight schedules in the coming weeks and months. The aim is to make as many destinations as possible accessible to holidaymakers and business travelers.
Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS are adding numerous summer destinations and more long-haul destinations starting July 2020.
• Austrian Airlines will resume long-haul flights as of 1 July 2020 and will offer flights to Bangkok, Chicago, Newark/New York and Washington D.C. up to three times a week. On short- and medium-haul routes, Bologna, Cairo, Florence, Moscow, Podgorica, Rome, Sibiu, Venice and Zagreb will be added to the existing flight offer.
• Lufthansa will be flying to many additional intercontinental destinations from Frankfurt, including Boston, Dubai, Houston, Johannesburg, Los Angeles and Vancouver. In addition, flights to more than 60 destinations in Europe will be resumed, including Dublin, Marseille, Reykjavík, Salzburg and Valencia.
• SWISS is focusing on expanding its European flight offer and is already serving all major European cities, including Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna and Warsaw. Further intercontinental destinations are also being added to the route network.
• Eurowings will be putting 30 to 40 percent of its flight capacity in the air again as from July – with a focus on flights to/from Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart.
Gradual expansion of the route network by September 2020
In September 2020, the Lufthansa Group airlines will be serving 90 percent of all originally planned short- and medium-haul destinations and 70 percent of long-haul destinations again. Customers who are now planning their autumn and winter holidays will thus have access to an extensive worldwide network of connections and a wide choice of destinations.
Current entry regulations
